Description

Organic wintergreen essential oil is a top to middle note steam distilled from the leaves of Gaultheria fragrantissima. It has an intensely fresh and minty aroma and is most often found in creams and salves used for tired and sore muscles from occasional overexertion.

Wintergreen plants are found in many parts of the world scattered throughout North and South America and Asia. As the name ‘wintergreen’ describes, these bushy plants grow low to the ground and remain green throughout the year with shiny leaves and bright red berries.

Our wintergreen oil comes with a child-resistant lid.

Aroma
Powerfully aromatic, this oil has an intense mint aroma and a pungent sweetness. Notes of fruit, herb, and wood come out in the drydown.

Constituents
This oil is comprised of 96-99% methyl salicylate.

Precautions
This oil can cause skin sensitization if oxidized. Never use essential oils undiluted, in eyes or mucus membranes. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified and expert practitioner. Keep away from children.

Before using topically, perform a small patch test on your inner forearm or back by applying a small quantity of diluted essential oil and apply a bandage. Wash the area if you experience any irritation. If no irritation occurs after 48 hours it is safe to use on your skin.
