Chaco Canyon 2008

We went to Chaco Canyon by mere accident.

Chaco Canyon is now known for its mysticism and ancient connections to ancient civilizations. But in 2008, we went to Chaco Canyon by mere accident!

After hiking Mesa Verde and talking to the locals, it was recommended by a Hopi native to head to Chaco. "Take water. Be mindful. Enter with respect." That was the advice.

So, we took the scribbled directions that we scratched while hearing the wise man speak and headed to Chaco.

30 miles in. Bumpy, dirt, roads. (Later on, we realized that the shocks were damaged in my sister's car because of her trying to drive 25 mph plus over the bumps.)

We spent two nights in desolation in a magical, isolated, campground under the canopy of the sky with only us, the rocks, the desert, and the one camp-guide at the far distance. Drank all of our water. Experienced the un-explainable. That's for another post.
