The Auction Barn, Alive Again - and a Lesson in Mindfulness

Through this series with Townsend Draft Goods, she shares simple, meaningful
ways to bring mindfulness and meditation into everyday life.

Even from afar, I could feel the heart in that day. And, it’s a good reminder for all
of us.

I couldn’t make it to the live auction at Townsend Draft Goods last weekend, but
thanks to the photos and live videos they shared before, during, and after the event,
I still felt like I was right there in Mill Gap, Virginia. Technology is amazing in
keeping us close, even when we’re miles apart!

The barn where it all happened was built years ago by their grandfather and once
buzzed with the energy of community gatherings. Last weekend, that energy
returned in full force.

Friends and neighbors gathered over music, food, and conversation, sharing not
just the experience of bidding on unique items, but the joy of being together. I
think the barn itself breathed a little deeper holding the past, present, and future all
in one space.

In mindfulness, we talk about being fully present - noticing the details, the
connections, the feelings of a moment. This auction was just that: a reminder to
pause and appreciate the places that hold our stories, the people who share them
with us, and the beauty of coming together.

Even from afar, I could feel the heart in that day. And, it’s a good reminder for all
of us.

Mindful Moment:

Think about the places in your life that hold special memories - a barn, a front porch swing, a kitchen table, a rocking chair, a park bench, a favorite trail. Next time you’re there, pause and take a breath in and really notice it. You might feel the past and present coming together right where you are… and remember, the smallest moments in familiar places often leave the biggest imprint on our hearts.
